NOTE: If you are running Brilliance from CLI, and the 'Bril' file is not
in the same directory, it will search for BRILLIANCE:Bril. So, if
you plan to let's say put the 'Brilliance' file in your C: dir and
the main 'Bril' file in it's own directory you should set up an
assign in your startup-sequence, eg.
assign BRILLIANCE: dh0:graphics/brilliance
If 'Brilliance' cannot find the 'Bril' file in either the current
directory or in BRILLIANCE: you will get a brief red flash on
your screen.

Special thanks go out to Devious Doze from Beyond Akira/Skid Row for
supplying the very first original executable and for helping trace through
the initial routines (eeck, de-donglizing over the phone :) Thanks for
writing to me about the availability of Brilliance (otherwise it might not
have been started on for a while longer). Also, thanks go out to Pharaoh,
sysop of Beyond Akira/Skid Row for lending that original and the dongle to
Doze :) Things were quite slow moving without Entity having the actual
dongle. Well, I guess those who think that it could have been cracked
without one will see themselves to be mistaken.
More special thanks go out to Shadolok for waking up and answering the
phone when I call him (most of the time) - Just kidding Shad - thanks for
running what I always thought to be a kick ass BBS and what now most people
know to be one of the finest boards in Canada. Cluck, Cluck, Aye, Aye
Cap'n. :)
Hello to Drone, the WareGod (tm) - Who has finished more games on
multiple machines than anyone I know. And who at this moment is working on
a secretive On-line. :)
Greetings to Koronis Rift the soon-to-be husband of his bride. Tick,
Tick, the hour is approaching (September 11th 1993). Hey, how about that
Console-Master? :)
Chronicler... Where the hell are you? :)
Some warm greetings (and hugs of course) go out to Chra - way yonder
in Brooklyn and BatMUD. Hey, once I get my own account I will come back on
to say hi - I promise. Say hello to Selina for me as well. :8^9 (yes, the
special smiley is back)
Hello to all the Anthrox members who frequent Passage to Reality
(sorry Skol, but I guess Mok didn't have the opportunity this time :).
Also hello to all my friends on IRC (if I have any left :) and on BatMUD
(helllloooo Finland!) There is a certain member of Fairlight currently on
BatMUD: Hey, consider this an invitation to call PTR - you can find the
number.
There are no small people on the boards I know. Of course there is
not enough room to mention everyone - just remember that I know who you
are. See you around.
Hello to all the people who shoot their mouths off and that I burn and
rag on. Hey, get a life and you'll soon stop being picked on by all (note:
I hate it when people shoot-off about things they have no clue about)
Well, that's about it for all my little hellos. As you will see a few
more times: Buy this package if you are serious about using it - I did.
It is truly worth $130US. I have been waiting for this puppy since
December of 1992. At least now I can toss this rubbish called DeluxePaint
(Daniel Silva must be crying after the geeks at EA messed up his original
program).

=---------------------= Entity's Crack Notations =---------------------=
Seeing as how none of the major cracking groups out there were going
to be able to crack Brilliance any time this year, I figured I'd give it a
shot.. and so here you have it. A lot of hours of hard work and patience
and it's finally de-protected. Man, was this one severe bitch to crack 8^)
Digital Creations did one hell of a job in heavily ingraining the
dongle protection code throughout the program. Seeing as how the program
itself is 500+K long, it's not easy to find all the checks and checksums
and remove them (especially since they checksum their own code in various
places to make sure someone hasn't gone in and altered anything). In fact,
the code pumped through ReSource with maybe 5% or so with my comments comes
out to almost 6 Megabytes of assembler source. As you can imagine, it's
HUMONGOUS! Well it was certainly challenging to crack this, that's for
sure! They had everything from building tables based on values returned
from the dongle (which changes from run to run), and variables that are
used in rendering routines being calculated from the dongle to periodic
dongle checking and checksumming of checksum code even! Definitely a
nightmare! They went to extreme lengths to make sure that nobody would
crack it.. of course, they didn't know about me :-)
If the majority of the program hadn't been written in C (yes, contrary
to what Digital Creations would have us believe) the cracking would have
gone a lot faster... as it stands there's so much convoluted crap in there
it's ridiculous. Actually, if I had had the dongle to start off with it
also would have been a billion times easier to crack :) The good point in
favour of the code is that even though the majority of it is in C, most of
the timing critical rendering functions are all written in 100% assembler
with direct blitter access giving very good speed.
About Brilliance itself... In my opinion it's the best amiga paint
package out there right now [other than OpalPaint which of course doesn't
work on anything other than an OpalVision board :(] I personally would like
to see this program continue being developed and enhanced. As such, if you
find yourself using this program a lot, do everyone a favour and go out and
purchase it. It'll be the best $125 you can spend for your Amiga. The
manual is well written, you'll get access to the Digital Creations BBS and
good technical support. Ok enough of my spiel... As you'll see Brilliance
TOTALLY blows that piece of crud DPaint right out of the water!
Greetings to all my friends...

P.S.- We'll be releasing TrueBrilliance (which is the HAM version of
Brilliance) in a couple of days time. I would have released it
all at once, but I've been EXTREMELY busy the past little while
because of work and all and didn't get a chance to work on that
yet. (To top it all off, my HD is starting to puke.. bleh)
